John Cratchley Paul Davies uses 'machines' to wonderful effect here... loops and delays and all manner of effects pedals are the stock in trade of most guitarists today but it takes a complete musician to maintain his essential personality over and above these tools,I think, and use them as an adjunct and not a replacement for invention. There is some lovely invention on show here and a disciplined freedom that is uplifting.
